More than 20 killed in Texas church shooting, assailant dead

The local police have confirmed that there are multiple casulaties.

An armed gunman on Sunday, shortly before noon entered a Baptist church in Sutherland Springs, southeast of San Antonio,Texas and started shooting indiscriminately. New York Times is reporting that there are more than 20 casualties and around 30 are injured. According to ABC News, at least 27 are dead and around 27 injured in the horrible incident. 

The shooter walked into the church shortly before noon -- at a morning service that witnesses said was normally attended by some 50 people -- and opened fire. The assailant tried to fled the crime scene in a vehicle but was neutralised after a brief chase. Though it is not clear currently if he was killed or he took his own life. FBI is currently working with the local security authorities to find out more about the shooter and his possible motive.  

ABC News quotes eyewitnesses as saying the entire attack lasted around 15 seconds and soon there were emergency personnel at the spot.
