U.S. House Speaker Paul Ryan on Wednesday continued to withhold his support from Donald Trump for the Republican Party's presidential nomination, saying he is not ready to endorse the political neophyte who has never held elected office. Ryan, the nation's top elected Republican, brushed aside reports that he was ready to endorse Trump, during a meeting with reporters in the Capitol. "I haven't made a decision," he said, adding that he had no timetable for doing so.

Earlier, Congressman and Speaker of the US House of Representatives Paul Ryansaid that real estate tycoon Donald Trump is "getting the nomination" of the Republican party for the November presidential elections. "I hope it's Donald Trump. He's getting the nomination," Ryan told reporters at a Capitol Hill news conference when asked about a latest opinion poll in which 58% of the respondents said they trust more, while another 39% opted for him.

"He (Trump) should. He's wrapping up the nomination," said the House Speaker who a few weeks ago said that he is not ready to support the New Yorker as the Republican presidential nominee. The two leaders met in Washington last week, where they committed themselves to unify the party and defeat Hillary Clinton the Democratic presidential front runner -- in the November presidential elections. "I hope it is because the person who's getting the nomination of our party is the person to lead our party," Ryan said referring to the fact that more people trust Trump rather than him.
