A shocking video that was uploaded on YouTube shows that moment two cyclists were knocked down by a motorcyclist on Mulholland Highway in California on Saturday, April 27.

The two cyclists were left writhing in pain and had to be taken away in an ambulance after the crash outside Los Angeles.

Footage of the crash was recorded by motorcycle enthusiast and videographer Ken Snyder who posted to YouTube the following day.

In the description of the video, Snyder wrote that increasing numbers of cyclists had been using the famous stretch of road popular with motorbike riders.

Snyder added, this is the first time a bicycle has been hit by a motorcycle in the four years I've been up here.

A YouTube commenter who claimed to know the two cyclists said neither was seriously injured in the crash.

"This was my friend visiting from England who was struck first. He's doing ok today, was discharged from the hospital yesterday with no broken bones. Miraculously...," he wrote.

Snyder told a news site that he had caught the footage by accident when he was filming riders along the winding highway.

"I video motorcycles and caught the crash by surprise. I do catch a number of motorcycle crashes and make motorcycle riding videos," Snyder said.

Snyder added, "It is a very common type of crash on this turn. Just usually no one is there and the rider falls alone. It is very unfortunate, and a rare case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time."

The video has gone viral as many people have watched it in shock engaging in a biker versus cyclist debate on the video's YouTube sharing space.
