Reliance JioPhone is now available via Amazon India for Rs 1,500: What you need to know

The feature phone from Reliance Jio, dubbed the JioPhone is now available on Amazon India for a price of Rs 1500. Up until now, the smartphone was only listed on the website but now, it is officially available to all for purchase.

The feature phone from Reliance Jio, dubbed the JioPhone is now available on Amazon India for a price of Rs 1500. Up until now, the smartphone was only listed on the website but now, it is officially available to all for purchase.

Customers interested to buy the device will have to pay Rs 1500 while placing the order. Once the device is received, the customer will have to go to a Jio Store or Reliance Digital outlet with the phone, packaging box and respective Aadhaar card number to activate the JioPhone. Once activated, the customer will access to Jio apps, such as JioMusic, JioCinema, JioTV, JioXpressNews and more.

In order to avail the refund by the company in a span of 36 months, users will have to compulsorily make a monthly recharge of Rs 153. Under this plan, customers will receive 1GB data per day, unlimited voice calls and free SMSes.

In terms of specifications, the device features a 2.4-inch QWVGA display with a 240x320 pixels resolution. It is powered by a 1.2GHz Spreadtrum SPRD 9820A/QC8905 dual-core processor with Mali-400 GPU, paired with 512MB RAM. It includes an internal storage of 4GB which can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD card.

The new phone comes equipped with a 2MP rear camera along with a 0.3MP front facing camera. Connectivity features include 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth v4.1, Wi-Fi, FM Radio, GPS, USB 2.0 and NFC. It is backed up by a 2000mAh battery which is rated to deliver 12 hours of talk time and 15 days of standby time.

The phone also supports 22 Indian languages including Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, Dogri, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Maithili, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Nepali, Oriya, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Santhali, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu, Jio Assistant responds to Hindi and English.

Additionally, users can also purchase the JioPhone from mobile wallet MobiKwik. MobiKwik said that the process of buying a JioPhone through MobiKwik would be as simple as buying phone numbers.

In order to book a JioPhone, MobiKwik customers will have to select a recharge icon from the homepage and select the phone booking option under "recharge and bill payments" category. Interested buyers can choose JioPhone and fill in the required details.

JioPhone aims to offer a ‘digital life’ for almost 500 million feature phone users. The company announced the device during the Reliance AGM in July, last year.
