Roger Federer says that he will not obsess over winning an 18th Grand Slam title, after putting up a dismal show in the US Open semi-finals. Federer, 33, was knocked out of the US Open semi-finals in straight sets by Marin Cilic, the world number 16 on Saturday, a loss which extended his failure to reach a final in New York to five years, Sports 24 reports.

The Swiss tennis star said that winning the title was not important to his life and that he did not need to be more happy. He said that the moment itself meant a lot to him, adding that he always works hard to win titles on the tour and not just No. 18. Federer, who has won five successive titles between 2004 and 2008, expressed his delight at winning his 80th career title recently and said that it was huge for him. He said he would give his best shot again in Australia next January and hoped to get another chance at it.
