The Forbes magazine released their India 30 Under 30 list on February 5 where four Indian sportspersons from three different games found a spot. It includes three female sports stars — women’s cricketer Harmanpreet Kaur, shooter Heena Sidhu, goalkeeper of Indian women’s hockey team Savita Punia. The only male sportsperson in the list is Team India pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah.
All the above-mentioned personalities have recently showcased exceptional performances in their respective games.
Harmanpreet Kaur is the new star of the Indian women's cricket team- her match-winning batting performance against South Africa in the ICC World Cup qualifiers landed a spot for the Indian women’s team in the main tournament. Later, she scored a magnificent century (171 runs off mere 115 balls) to help India get to the world cup final. She is also the only Indian woman cricketer to play in Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL).
Ace shooter Heena Sidhu clinched gold in a 10-meter air pistol event at the Commonwealth Shooting Championships in Brisbane. Earlier, she also represented India at the Rio Olympics in 2016 and ended 14th.
Speedster Jasprit Bumrah is currently one of the most valuable players in the Indian cricket team. After great performances in ODIs and T20s, he also made his test debut in Tests in South Africa. Bumrah was the third-highest wicket-taker in ODIs in 2017. He took 39 wickets in 23 matches and 12 scalps in 11 T20I games. He was part of the ICC’s ODI Team of the Year 2017.
Hockey team goalkeeper Savita Punia was a member of the Indian team that won the Asia Cup in Japan last year.
