Bayern Munich's Arjen Robben enjoys playing for Louis van Gaal more than his former coach Jose Mourinho, the Dutch winger said on Thursday.

Van Gaal and Inter Milan's Mourinho will be in opposite dug outs at the Champions League final on Saturday and the 26-year-old Robben, who spent three years at Chelsea under Mourinho, has no doubt about which coach's methods he prefers.

Speaking in English, German, Spanish, but not his native Dutch, Bayern's leading scorer told a news conference: "In terms of the coaches it comes down to defence against attack.

"Van Gaal is a coach who wants to play nice football and win games that way, but Mourinho is a purer coach who has his tactics ready, but doesn't think too much about playing football ... or not about playing nice football, he just concentrates on winning games.

"As a player you want to play and enjoy the game, that's also an important part of why you play and so I have really enjoyed it at Bayern this season."

Robben, who spent two seasons at Real Madrid after leaving Chelsea in 2007, said he was pleased to be back in the city but his focus was on helping Bayern win the Champions League for the first time in nine years.

"I had two great years here and I thank the fans for that, but apart from that, I am a Bayern Munich player now and not a Real Madrid player and I am totally engaged with my team.

"I am not focused on what Mourinho is thinking or who he intends to play against me, I am just concentrating on what we can do.

"People can talk about the coaches and the two of them are among the best in the world, but the match is also about the players and we are a real team, we do everything together, and that is our main strength."

Robben, often injured at Chelsea, has played some of the best football of his career under Van Gaal this season and helped Bayern to a domestic League and Cup Double.

"Everyone knows we have a huge chance to write history with this team now and become the first German team to win the treble," Robben said.

"If we lose it is going to be a huge disappointment. We can still say we had a super season, but if we lose it will not be a great season. If we win then we can say it has been truly a great season for Bayern Munich."
