Speed Indian National Rally Championship to be held in Maharashtra

The rally will run in two legs with first leg on October 30-31 and the second leg on November 1.

The cream of talent in the Indian rallying scene will descend here for the fourth round of Speed Indian National Rally Championship (INRC) in Maharashtra to be held from October 30 to November 1.

           
The rally is being sponsored by Bharat Petroleum under the aegis of the Federation of Motor Sports Club of India and promoted by IMG and pro-sports promotion.

           
Talking to newsmen here last night, Ashwin Pandit, president of Western India Sports Association (WISA) said that after the successful completion of the first three rounds held in Coimbatore, Banglore and Kolkata, the fourth round will return to Nashik, the home turf of WISA, which is successfully running the event since 2000.

           
The rally will run in two legs with first leg on October 30-31 and the second leg on November 1.The total distance covered will be 564.66km including transport section, nine special stages and one super special stage. The total distance of special stage rallying will be 112.44km, he said.

           
The three special stages--Thanepada (12.07km), Khadak ohol (7.02km), and Ojharkhed (17.64km)-- two laps of spectacular super special stage of 2.25km with high-speed left handers, a tricky hair-pin and a few acute 30 to 90 degree turns will provide seat-edged excitement during the event.

 

MRF's Gaurav Gill and co-driver Musa Sherrif are leading the championship in the 2000 CCn-category after three rallies with 29 points and are closely followed by Amittrajit Ghosh and co-driver Ashwin Naik of red rooster racing with 25 points, Pandit said.

Last year champions Red Ruster racing will run two cars to challenge former champions team MRF, he added.

           
"We have raised the bar of the national championship with state of the art timing equipment, FIA approved safety standards and international level tracking equipment to bring said event to a new standard of safety speed," Bharat Raj of IMG Sports, said.

           
MK Shet, brand manager, Bharat Petroleum, Annabelle Manwaring, managing director, pro-sports promotion were also present on the occasion.
