Last year semi finalist Saurashtra will play its first match of the season when they will clash with Mohd Kaif led Uttar Pradesh in Elite division 'B' match starting here from tomorrow at Madhavrao Scindia cricket ground.
Saurashtra would miss the services of its key players like all rounder Ravindra Jadeja and Cheteshwar Pujara.
Jadeja has been doing job for the national side against visitors Australia while Pujara has been out of action since getting inujred during IPL in South Africa.
Saurashtra skipper Jaydev Shah admitted that the hosts would miss the services of the two players but did not agree that the team depended a lot on the two players.
"Pujara and Jadeja are our two key players but we are not depending on the duo only and we have a chance to prove this in the match, Shah said.
This is our first match of the season and we have to be vary cautious and not make the kind of mistakes that we did last year against Gujarat where we conceded outright victory to Gujarat, Shah said.
Pujara is feeling good and took part in the practice session but he has been advised rest for at least a week as a precautionary measures, Shah said.
In the absence of Pujara and Jadeja, batting responsibility would be on skipper Jaydev Shah, seasoned Shitanshu Kotak and Pratik Mehta. The teams:-
