Mumbai batsman Rohit Sharma knows he still hasn’t cemented his place in the ODI side. The stylish batsman, who was ignored for the first three games against New Zealand, has now found a place in the 15-member squad for the last two matches.

However, Sharma isn’t thinking too much. “I am not looking at anything. Neither the World Cup nor cementing my place…I just want to do my job. And that is to perform well whenever I get an opportunity to play in the XI,” Sharma, who scored an entertaining, unbeaten 59 against Gujarat here on Thursday, told DNA.

The 23-year-old, who last played an ODI in August (against Sri Lanka in Dambulla), said he’s used to getting picked and dropped. “This is something which is true and I don’t want to think of anything else but grab the opportunity whenever I get to play.”

Virat Kohli has been getting runs consistently and has cemented his side in the squad. This, however, doesn’t bother Sharma much. “I don’t think about what others are doing. He (Kohli) is doing well. But my job is to do well whenever I get a chance,” he said.

Meanwhile, wicketkeeper-batsman Parthiv Patel has also been rewarded. “I was waiting for this (call-up). I mean I have been doing well at the domestic level for quite a long time and it is good to be rewarded,” said the Gujarat skipper.

This is one opportunity Patel doesn’t want to squander. “I know there is tough competition, but I don’t want to put any kind of pressure on myself,” Patel told this paper.

Meanwhile, Gautam Gambhir’s stint as captain will continue for the entire series. Zaheer Khan returned to the squad but Suresh Raina and S Sreesanth have been rested.
