Olympics 2012: Queen's Olympic film debut with James Bond

The  Queen "got it in one" as she made her acting debut in a film with James Bond during the opening ceremony, according to the BBC.

The four-and-a-half minute film was set in her private study at Buckingham Palace, where she briefed Daniel Craig on a "secret" mission ahead of the Olympic Games.

The footage also stars Monty and Holly, her two favourite corgis, and a group of Brazilian schoolchildren in a gesture to the next Games in Rio de Janeiro.

It was broadcast ahead of the Queen's dramatic entrance during the opening ceremony.

The scene was devised by Danny Boyle in 2011 and the film was shot on March 27, as the Queen prepared for her Diamond Jubilee celebrations and Craig was working on Skyfall, the next Bond film.

The three-hour film shoot involved more than 130 people.

According to Nicholas Brown, the BBC's director of drama production, the Queen gave a flawless performance. "She got it in one take."

Roger Mosey, the BBC's director of London 2012, said, "Danny had sketched out his ideas for the show in cartoons and graphics in the summer of 2011 and it has translated incredibly well."

"He had the Queen's starring role included but at the time he didn't know if she would do it."
