With their recent 4-0 drubbing of HAL, Bangalore, the elated Mumbai FC team will be eyeing to continue their winning streak when they take on out-of-form Prayag United SC in the 12th round of I-league football at Shiv Chhatrapati sports complex in Balewadi on Wednesday.

The going was smooth for Prayag United until they were held by a lower-ranked Pailan Arrows in a goalless draw earlier this month. They also suffered a humiliating 1-2 defeat from Chirag United, Kerala, followed by another draw against Shillong Lajong last week.

Though, the Kolkata side managed to maintain sixth place with 18 points, what Sanjoy Sen’s boys are desperately wanting for, is a clean win to put them back on track.

With top scorers Yusif Yakubu (seven) and Brazilian Joshimar da Silva Martins (five) in forwards along with L Bhowmick and Subash Chakraborty as the medios, the Prayag United team looks strong.

However, the Mumbai side will be banking on their ‘home’ advantage. The Mumbai side has held Pune FC in a goalless draw followed by comfortable win over HAL in the last two encounters at the venue.

However, it won’t be an easy affair for the Mumbai side, who have garnered 11 points from equal number of matches.

“They have an experienced side and have performed well in the previous matches. However, we are confident that we can stop them, as we have been playing good at this ground,” said Mumbai FC manager Henry Picardo.

“We have watched their game. Their team is strong and experienced, but our players are capable enough to give them a good fight and can deliver what is expected from them,” he added.
The Mumbai FC will go with full strength and even if they probably miss Noel Wilson due to an injury, Gbeneme Friday and skipper Abhishek Yadav, who scored a brace in the previous match, will spearhead the challenge. The team management will be banking on Cavin Lobo and Ebi Sukore who have proved instrumental in several occasions.
