Love-rat Wayne Rooney tries to patch up with wife Coleen

After telling his wife Coleen to 'get over it', Wayne Rooney, who slept with a prostitute while his wife was pregnant, seems to be making efforts to patch up with her.

Rooney now accepts the pain and anguish his cheating has caused, and is desperate to avoid a marriage breakdown and a bitter divorce that could cost him half of his £33 million fortune.

"As the headlines have piled up he realises the hurt he has caused not only her but the whole family. He wants to do the right thing," The Mirror quoted a friend as saying.

In a tense, 45-minute phone call, she let rip at him over claims that he bedded vice girls Jenny Thompson and Helen Wood while his wife was ­pregnant with their son Kai.

Coleen yelled, "You've been such a fool."

But Manchester United ace Rooney believes he can rescue his shattered relationship. He took delivery of a bouquet and drove to Coleen's family home. But it is not known whether the couple came face to face yesterday.

"Her family have made it clear what they think. They are furious that he could put her through this," a friend of Coleen's said.
