World champion Jenson Button says he still needs to get out more, even if he is not quite so obsessive about Formula One as he was.

"I'm a lot more relaxed now than I was last year," the McLaren driver told Reuters ahead of Sunday's Monaco Grand Prix, the most glamorous race of the season that he won with Brawn last year.

"It's difficult, because I'm definitely more relaxed but I still think about Formula One maybe too much."

"Sometimes you need a break, get away from it and have another hobby, which I do - triathlons -- but I haven't done any since August last year," said the Englishman, who plans to compete in London in August.

Just as last year, when he jokingly referred to himself in Monaco as a "right boring bastard" for his inability to think about anything other than F1, the 30-year-old is leading the championship.

Last year he had four wins in the first five races, this time he has two victories from five and leads Ferrari's Fernando Alonso by three points.

Last year he was under intense pressure, favourite to win his first title and doing his best to shut out any distractions. Now he has achieved his lifelong aim, and is much more at ease with himself.

"Most of the time I'm thinking about Formula One, which is sometimes a good thing, sometimes it isn't. As I say, you need to get away and you are more fresh when you come back."

Brawn had few sponsors last year, leaving Button plenty of free time.

McLaren, who have Button and 2008 world champion Lewis Hamilton as their all-British line-up, demand far more of their drivers'' time.

"There has to be a balance with everything, and I've probably not trained as much as maybe I would like," he said. "But I'm definitely training enough for racing, and that's the most important thing to me. That's number one.

"It's a busy schedule here, but we make sure it's balanced, that it's not too overpowering and we're not tired when we actually get to the circuit."
