Japan defender Atsuto Uchida has agreed terms to join German side Schalke 04, Japanese media reported on Thursday.
The 22-year-old, named in Japan's squad for the World Cup in South Africa, is expected to sign a three-year contract with the Bundesliga runners-up.
"It will not take long before concluding (the transfer)," Kashima's technical committee chief Mitsuru Suzuki told Japan's Nikkan Sports newspaper.
The Japan right-back has been capped 31 times and will expect to start for Japan at the World Cup, which begins on June 11.
Financial terms have not been disclosed but local media reported Uchida would earn around $2.3 million a year, a record for a Japanese player.
