New Delhi: The International Weightlifting Federation put off its decision on whether to ban the Indian Weightlifting Federation (IWF) after six of its weightlifters tested positive in out of competition dope tests conducted by the World Anti Doping Agency (WADA).

The world body was to decide on the Indian organisation's fate during an executive committee meeting in Goyang in South Korea on the sidelines of the World Championships, out of which the IWF dropped out last week fearing a ban.

The matter was to be discussed on Wednesday and then on Friday but it could still not come up for discussion and was postponed till Saturday.

India, who have been banned earlier in 2004 and 2006, face up to a four-year exile which could put their participation in next year's Commonwealth Games in Delhi in jeopardy.
Earlier this week, the whole executive committee of the IWF resigned taking moral responsibility for the string of positive dope tests.

The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) is pushing the world body to show leniency.
