The first wave of England’s World Cup wives and girlfriends (WAGs) invasion has hit Cape Town, with Emile Heskey’s fiancée, Chantelle Tagoe, leading a gang ahead of Friday’s clash against Algeria.

She and kids Jaden and Reigan travelled from Sun City to arrive in Cape Town for the big game, The Sun reports.

Along with Chantelle, Glen Johnson’s wife Laura and Matthew Upson’s wife Ellie Darby have also arrived, while Peter Crouch’s girlfriend Abbey Clancy is due to arrive today.

Earlier, England footballers had urged manager Fabio Capello to allow them to see their wives and girlfriends, as they said that the team was feeling bored and restless after their 1-1 draw against the USA.

On Wednesday, the team pleaded with Capello, saying: “If we can’t have games, please just let us have our wives.”

Capello has banned WAGs from South Africa until England make it through the group stage next week.

He reckons that WAGs would turn England’s campaign into a repeat of the “circus” in Baden Baden in 2006.
