England, US 1-1 tie leaves betting Obama and Cameron beerless

US president Barack Obama and British pime minster David Cameron on Saturday placed a bet of beer on the outcome of the football match between US and England national teams in South Africa, according to the White House.

The two leaders placed the wager in a phone call earlier in the day, reports the New York Daily News.

They talked about international affairs, including the war in Afghanistan and Gulf Coast oil spill, and 'agreed to disagree' on the outcome of the US-England soccer game, Obama's office said.

"The President wagered the best lager against the best beer in America on an American win over England," according to the White House.

Obama told Cameron that if history proves correct, he'll be sipping Britain's finest lager by 5 pm

"The President noted that the historical record of previous World Cup matches between the United States and England favors the United States," said a White House official.

But with the Brit, US 1-1 tie, it seems, the two parties have been left beerless.
