Terming the ongoing Delhi Commonwealth Games as "meaningless", former Olympian Aslam Sher Khan today said that a probe should be initiated against those, whose names have figured in the alleged scams associated with the event.

"After October 14, when the Games end, a probe should be initiated against those corrupt leaders and officials associated with the Games. They should be tried in the court of law and details of each and every paisa spent by them should be extracted," the former hockey player said here.

Khan, who is also a former Congress MP, said there was no point in hosting the Games as they were "meaningless".

"The Games are the symbol of British rule and success in it is not even considered for qualifying in Olympics or other international events," he said.

"It would have been better if the money spent on organising these Games were invested on the development of sports and players or for the benefit of children," he added.

He, however, congratulated the medal winners in the current games.

"These players should be complimented as they have come forward on their own and not because of office bearers of the various sports federations, who are making life difficult for emerging talent," Khan said adding that such administrators had no right to take responsibility of organising sport events and putting the nation under financial strain.
