A burst pipe above the Manchester United dressing room at Sunderland's Stadium of Light caused part of the ceiling to collapse and delayed the kick-off of their Premier League match by 20 minutes.

United manager Alex Ferguson announced four changes to the team that beat Valencia 1-0 in the Champions League on Wednesday with Michael Owen making his first league start since January.

In early action, Wigan Athletic beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-0 at the DW Stadium with goals from Jordi Gomez and Hugo Rodallega after Wolves defender Karl Henry was sent off in the 11th minute for a reckless challenge on Gomez.
