Several British sports personalities and celebrities have said they are disappointed with the horrendous beginning to England’s World Cup campaign against the United States.

England was forced to settle for a disappointing 1-1 draw in their Group C match.

“It’s an okay start. Nobody should underestimate the Americans,” News of The World quoted David Haye, WBA heavyweight champion, as saying.

X Factor
chief Simon Cowell said, “This is quite disappointing however we do still have a long way to go.”

Former player and TV and radio pundit Steve Claridge said that the US team was certainly not the worst team and it was important that England did not lose the match.

England captain Steven Gerrard had scored after just four minutes to set up the dream start to the campaign for Fabio Capello’s men.

However, goalkeeper Robert Green fumbled a tame shot from US striker Clint Dempsey into England’s goal, allowing the Americans to equalise and manage it till the end.

England now has six days to rally their troops before their second Group C clash against Algeria in Cape Town next Friday.
