Is Suresh Kalmadi talking big or flying kite on Usain Bolt’s participation in the Commonwealth Games in 2010? It is anybody’s conjecture but the Jamaican is yet to decide on his 2010 itinerary.

Bolt’s manager Ricky Simms categorically told DNA that the information given out in the Indian media regarding sprinter’s participation at the New Delhi Games was incorrect and that no decision has be taken as of now. Simms, however, did not reveal whether the triple Olympic gold medallist will eventually come to India or not.

“I’ve spoken to Glen Mills (Bolt’s coach) who confirmed that no decision will be made about Usain’s participation in the CWG until May-June 2010 when he starts racing in the IAAF Diamond League,” Simms said.

Bolt is known to have high regards for Mills, who has been coaching the athlete since 2005. Mills said that Bolt will run the 100m and 200m at seven meets next year but did not indicate which ones.

On Sunday, addressing a sports breakfast on the sidelines of Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Port-of-Spain,  Kalmadi, the Organising Committee chairman of CWG, had confirmed that Bolt will be the start attraction at the October 3-14 multi-sport event being hosted by India for the first time.

Bolt set world records of 9.69sec (100m) and 19.30sec (200m) at the 2008 Olympics and lowered those marks at the world championships earlier this year to 9.58sec and 19.19sec respectively. On both occasions, he also helped Jamaica to the sprint relay titles.

Earlier, last month the World Male Athlete of the Year had said that he intended to take his foot off the pedal in 2010. “This year (2010) will be a little strange. We’re not going to do much or try to do a lot,” the 23-year-old had said.
