Barcelona is believed to be keen to snare Chelsea striker Didier Drogba on a free transfer.

The Spanish giants want to offer Drogba, 34, a two-year deal worth up to five million dollars a season for quitting Chelsea and prevent him from moving to China, Milan or the United States.

"What the team needs is an attacking player who has the presence and strength to trouble defenders. Drogba has that profile and is one of the players the club are looking at," The Sun quoted a Barcelona source, as saying.

Drogba has spent eight seasons at Stamford Bridge but new Barcelona manager Tito Vilanova, who will succeed Pep Guardiola next week, has demanded a world-class striker as cover for David Villa.
