Less than two weeks after being banned for an indefinite period by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for creating rift in the team, former skipper Younus Khan has received the President’s Pride of Performance award for leading the team which lifted the ICC World T20 Championship in England in 2009.

Talking to reporters after receiving the award, Khan said he has always given his best for the country and would continue to do in future also.

“I feel proud about this award and thank Pakistan’s government for bestowing this award on me. I have always felt proud of being a Pakistani and will do my utmost to serve my country,” The Daily Times quoted Khan, as saying.

When asked about the ban imposed by the PCB, he said: “At this point I don’t want to speak about the penalties but I am in consultation and will lodge an appeal.”

All-rounder Shahid Afridi also received the President’s award for playing an important role in Pakistan’s triumph in the T20 World Cup last year.
