Not many had predicted Shane Warne-led lesser fancied Rajasthan Royals to win the inaugural edition of Indian Premier League a couple of years ago.

The team with less budget and almost no star players in its line-up surprised everyone with sheer team effort and Warne’s panache.

However, in the second edition held in South Africa, the 2008 champions were nowhere near their best. Taking a lesson from the South Africa drubbing, Warne has coined a new strategy.
In order to induce freshness and lift the morale of his team, the Australian spin maestro has changed the interiors of their dressing room at their home grounds Jaipur and Ahmedabad.

The innovative look of the dressing room will have fixed seats for all 15 players with the backdrop of photographs showcasing team spirit and RR’s golden moments. The think tank has also kept a monitor which will play RR song featuring co-owner Shilpa Shetty at regular intervals.

“This is completely Warne’s idea. He believes in team culture and wants it to be reflected in the dressing room,” said former England player Jeremy Snape, a psychologist with RR.

Meanwhile, analysing his team’s loss in the first match against Mumbai Indians, Warne said they have to improve on a few areas. “We didn’t get the basics right, dropped a couple of catches and bowled 11 wides. We should have won as in 12 balls 19 were needed.”

When asked about the next game against Delhi Daredevils, Warne said his team will enter as underdogs. “On paper Delhi are very strong and we are the underdogs. But considering our Mumbai reply, we can win from any situation. We have match winners in form of Smith, Tait and Yusuf, especially who is having a purple patch,” said Warne. The Monday encounter under floodlights at Motera will be their first home match of the season 3. “We would certainly like to maintain our good record at home,” said Warne.
