Shyam Kothari defines a man's relation with the machine. The seven-time national champion in motocross was felicitated by the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI) during the T1 Prima Truck Racing Championship which concluded in Greater Noida on Sunday.

The Pune-based rider has been associated with the machine for 25 years and he is the only Indian to have been crowned national champion in all the three disciplines of motorsports (motocross, rally and dirt cross).

Though Kothari retired from active racing in the year 1996-97, he began his second innings on the track as an organiser.

"It was soon after I retired from racing I took up organising. It was a small event at first, later I went on to organise bigger events and an international event in 1998 became a grand success too," said Kothari, who also served as the chairman of the Motocross Commission, FMSCI.

Talking about his future in the sport, he said: "I would say I am just a beginner and not a veteran when someone talks about organising, and I will give my best.

" It is a relationship between the man and the machine, it is just not the speed, one has to know about the machine like one knows about humans."

According to Kothari, motorsports is growing in India with the first ever T1 Prima Truck Racing Championship being a success.
