Dear Ed Woodward (or whatever from the Man Utd board who’s reading this),

Hey Ed, what’s up? First off let me start this letter by congratulating on the fantastic David De Gea business. Given that it’s Star Wars week, we all have to appreciate that he Jedi reflexes. And what you did, by ‘delaying’ the papers to Real Madrid, was nothing short of legendary. Danny Ocean would be proud.

But you’ve to realise, and I am sure you do, since you’re a very smart man, that Louis Van Gaal is completely wrong for Manchester United. Don’t tell me you believe in his philosophy? It’s as believable as the fact that people once considered Anderson to be a proper Manchester United player.

Surely, you’ve realised that Louis Van Gaal is not working out. His philosophy has left us in tatters, looking like Liverpool FC after the glory years. It’s gone to an extent that teams don’t even fear coming to Old Trafford. Can you imagine that? 27 years of fear, gone in one season. Yeah it started with David Moyes, but Louis Van Gaal has done no matter.

Do you guys still think Van Gaal is the one? That he has the answer. I mean come on, Southampton shouldn't be coming to Old Trafford think they can win. That's just not done.  But they did and they went away with three points. This current team, thanks to Van Gaal looks like it couldn’t score in a brothel even if someone gave them a thousand pounds. I am sure you got the reference, one of our former players said it, the irascible Roy Keane when he was assistant manager at Aston Villa.

Come on Ed, we can do better. Roman made a huge mistake by letting Jose Mourinho go. Let’s get him, we all know that a special club needs a special manager. Jose Mourinho was born to manage Manchester United. He was working for this job, since the time he was Bobby Robson’s assistant. He is the only one with the balls, to bring the legacy that defined Sir Alex Ferguson’s time here.

Recently, while explaining his frailties, Louis Van Gaal said that it’s wrong for Manchester United fans to expect the success that existed 10 years ago. I am sorry, is that how a Manchester United manager talks?  In his new book Leading he had written that even after City’s last-minute injury time winner in 2012, he would keep reinforcing the idea that no club was ever going to be bigger than Manchester United. He had written: “I was able to keep reinforcing the ideology that no club was bigger than United – no matter whether their owner controlled all the oil in the Persian Gulf or every coal mine in Russia.”

That is Manchester United, we do not, ever, believe that anyone is better than us. It doesn’t matter what resources they have. And while we’re at it, let’s discuss Louis Van Gaal’s ‘philosophy’. What exactly does it pertain to?
Does it explain why he let the players like Rafael da Silva, Jonny Evans, Tyler Blackett, Patrice Evra, Nani, Fletcher, Angel Di Maria, Shinji Kagawa, James Wilson, Adnan Januzaj and Javier Hernandez to leave?

Does he really believe that Ashley Young or Antonio Valencia is a better full-back than Rafael? Does he really think that Angel Di Maria, the most expensive player in the Premier League, a truly world class superstar, just deserved one year to adjust to the rigours of football in England?

As Zlatan Ibrahimovic famously said, “You bought a Ferrari, but you drive it like a Fiat.” Manchester United has over the years, survived one simple philosophy. You win the ball, you pass the ball, you score a goal. All else is embellishment.

On a brighter note, Jose Mourinho is available. His desire to become Man Utd manager is well known. Let’s get him. Let us see, what the Special One has in store for us. It surely cannot be worse than the mediocrity we’re exposed to every single week.

Yours sincerely,
A disgruntled Red Devil
