Manchester City skipper lays down gauntlet to Chelsea; says club won't 'surrender' Premier League title

Warning current Premier League leaders Chelsea, Manchester City football team captain Vincent Kompany has claimed that his side is not about to 'surrender' the title.

The Belgian International said that while the end of City's unbeaten 14-game run was a blow, Sunday's home defeat to Arsenal would only serve to fuel their determination to beat Jose Mourinho's leaders in the showdown at Stamford Bridge on January 31.

And the centre back also issued a 'timely reminder' that City came from behind to be crowned champions in both 2012 and last season, the Daily Express reported. Kompany added that City has been in 'situations like this before' claiming that it won't 'affect the way they look at the Champions League or the FA Cup'.

Kompany said that they would just make sure that City is 'better in the next game'. He added that they are always 'liable to kick off a massive unbeaten run'.

City drew level on points and goal difference with Chelsea on New Year's Day but a draw at Everton and the defeat to Arsenal has left them five points adrift and that gap could stretch to eight if they lose at Stamford Bridge, with only 15 games remaining, the report added.
