Mahendra Singh Dhoni named ICC ODI Team of the Year's skipper for fifth consecutive time

India cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been named as skipper of International Cricket Council's ODI side for fifth year in a row as ICC announced its Test and ODI sides of this year.

The ICC announced its Test and ODI Teams of the Year on Wednesday, as chosen by a specially appointed selection panel chaired by the ICC's Cricket Committee chairman and former India captain Anil Kumble. Kumble made the announcement at a media conference at the ICC Headquarters in Dubai, where ICC Chief Executive David Richardson also announced the shortlists for the LG ICC Awards 2014.

Australian pace express Dale Steyn was named as part of the Test squad for seventh time in a row. Sri Lanka's Angelo Mathews has been named as the captain of the Test side that also includes two more Sri Lankans, Kumar Sangakkara and Rangana Herath.

The ICC Test Team of the Year 2014 in batting order:

1. David Warner (Australia)
2. Kane Williamson (New Zealand)
3. Kumar Sangakkara (Sri Lanka)
4. AB de Villiers (South Africa)
5. Joe Root (England)
6. Angelo Mathews (Sri Lanka, captain)
7. Mitchell Johnson (Australia)
8. Stuart Broad (England)
9. Dale Steyn (South Africa)
10. Rangana Herath (Sri Lanka)
11. Tim Southee (New Zealand)
12. Ross Taylor (New Zealand)


Meanwhile, Dhoni has been selected in the ICC ODI Team of the Year for the eighth time, while it is the fifth year he has been appointed captain. Other Indian players in the squad are Virat Kohli, Mohammad Shami and Rohit Sharma.
