Dinesh Karthik reacts to the scene in Dhoni's biopic where selectors pick Mahi instead of him

Dinesh Karthik has been India's perennial solution for the wicket-keeping problem. He had made his international debut before Mahendra Singh Dhoni and went on to play 23 Tests, 71 ODIs and nine T20Is. However, the man from Tamil Nadu was never able to seal his position in national team's playing XI. In the recently released biopic of Dhoni, Karthik got a special mention and his reaction was quoted by The Times of India.

There's a scene in the movie where the selectors are seen discussing the names of Dhoni and Karthik for the wicket-keeper's slot for India's ODI tour to Bangladesh. After a lot of deliberation, the then skipper, Sourav Ganguly vetoes in favour of Mahi and the selectors are seen giving green signal to the captain's choice. 

When asked about the movie, Karthik said that he was surprised at the scene, but mentioned that he has never cribbed about not being picked in the team. “I watched it (M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story). I was surprised actually, that there was a scene involving me. But I never sort of felt Dhoni was selected ahead of me. I never crib about things. I have never asked any selector why I wasn’t picked. I always believed that if you have the skill, then you will find a way to get an opportunity,” Karthik told TOI.

The athletic keeper is still going strong in the domestic circuit and wants to win the Ranji Trophy for his state at any cost.  Incidentally, the Sushant Singh Rajput starrer biopic is also on a roll having collected over Rs 116 crore in 12 days.
