YouTube is the largest and most popular repository of streaming videos online, and with good reason. It's completely free to use and has a variety of content, from music, to TV show snippets to gameplay footage to real-life events. And it's that variety that's motivated Google to spin off the all-new YouTubeMusic.

With the launch of the subscription-based premium service YouTube Red, Google is showing that it's trying to capitalise on its popularity in the sector. Aside from letting people pay to get rid of ads, the company is also partnering popular YouTubers with film crews to churn out original content for its premium service. And that's where YouTube Music comes in. It's now available as a separate app in the US (Android and iOS), and will be coming to other countries soon. While it's free to use, it gets upgraded if you subscribe to YouTube Red, letting you save music videos for offline play and play music while using another app or with your screen locked.

This follows the launch of YouTube Gaming earlier in August, indicating that Google is very clear on who it's largest audiences are. While YouTube Gaming aggregates all gaming-related content and even allows easy live streaming for  playthroughs and he like, YouTube Music is the focal point for new music videos, concert footage, and cover artists. Once it's available, you can try out the premium version for free for 14 days, to see everything the subscripion has to offer.
