After selling of its phone business to Microsoft, Nokia today highlighted what it will be doing next. There are three essential pillars of Nokia’s businesses – NSN, HERE and Advanced Technologies. Nokia claims that all the three business units are industry leaders in their fields.

Nokia bought out Siemens’ stake in its joint venture – Nokia Siemens Networks – for $2.2 billion in July this year. NSN has a leadership position in the LTE market, which is something Nokia would bank upon. It was the networks business that was supporting the devices and services business in the company’s transition quarters.

HERE is the location and commerce business that Nokia had sort of spun off after the Navteq acquisition. Last week the company announced its plans to enter the connected car space. Nokia will also earn license fees from Microsoft for using its HERE assets across Windows Phone devices and other areas that Microsoft might deem fit.

Advanced Technologies will focus on connectivity, sensing and material technologies, as well as web and cloud technologies. It is the arm that will build Nokia’s patent portfolio.
