In typical Indian fashion, we responded with our patriotism and love of cricket. When the Indian cricket team took on archrivals Pakistan on the field, #जयहिन्द (#JaiHind) became the very first Hindi hashtag to trend on Twitter. Presently, #हरहरमहादेव is a trending topic in India, on the ocassion of the Maha Shivratri festival. Tweets with Hindi, Bengali and Tamil language hashtags have been around for a while, but this is the first time that the hashtags have been able to vie for the trending spots nationwide.
