Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has today launched its first made in India smartphone, the Redmi 2 Prime.

The Redmi 2 Prime has a 4.7” display with 1280x720 HD resolution at 312 pixels per inch (PPI) and 178° in-plane switching (IPS) technology. It is powered by a 64-bit 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor (MSM8916) coupled with Adreno 306 GPU. The 4G enabled device has Dual SIM capabilities, with Dual standby. The smartphone has an 8MP rare shooter with backside illumination and a 2MP front camera that is equipped with beautify and 36 smart filters. The camera also records 720p HD videos.

The 9.4mm smartphone weighs just 133g with rounded corners and a textured back for a better grip. The back panel of the phone is fingerprint and grease-resistant. With the MIUI 6, users can experience a range of features. The Redmi 2 Prime is backed by a 2200mAh battery with Quick Charge 1.0.

The Redmi 2 Prime was launched by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Chandrababu Naidu at an event in Vizag. The Xiaomi device is priced at Rs 6,999 and will be manufactured by Foxconn in their plant at Vizag.
