The world's leading social networking site, Facebook has announced that now you need not have a Facebook account to use Facebook Messenger.

According to speculations, this step will allow Facebook to compete for users already hooked onto another messaging app, WhatsApp. Interestingly, WhatApp is owned by Facebook and both messaging apps have similar features, including sending photos, videos, group chats, voice and video calling and stickers.

The new non-Facebook option is currently available only in the US and Canada, but soon it is expected to head to other countries including India.
