ChampOne C1 smartphone cheaply-priced at Rs 501: Is this another 'Freedom 251' clone?

After the entire Freedom 251 saga, there’s a new smartphone company on the block that plans to compete with it. Going by the name ChampOne, which we are sure, you haven’t heard of, claims to offer a smartphone called ChampOne C1 at a mere price of Rs 501!

However, let’s be clear on the exact price of the device. According to the website, the smartphone is priced at Rs 8,000 but through a marketing gimmick, the smartphone will be available at Rs 501. Additionally, it states that the flash sale begins on September 2 at 11AM and registrations are open now. However, the registration button was not working. A message on the website states, “We are facing technical issue with our payment gateway partner [Ccavenue (Avenues India Pvt. Ltd.)]. You would not be able to register for the application for next 24 hours. We sincerely regret for your inconvenience and would try to get it fixed as soon as possible. Thank you for your support.”

In terms of specifications, the smartphone features a 5-inch HD IPS display with a 1280X720 resolution. It is powered by a 1.3GHz MT6735 Quad-core processor paired with 2GB RAM. Running Android 5.1 Lollipop, the device comes with an internal storage of 16GB and a fingerprint scanner.

The ChampOne C1 comes equipped with an 8MP rear camera along with a 5MP front facing camera. Connectivity features include 4G LTE, micro-USB and a 3.5mm audio jack. A 2500mAh battery completes the package. It will be available in white, silver and gold color variants.
