Amazon claims its now the third largest video site

Amazon has claimed its Instant Video streaming platform is now the third most popular of its kind in the US.

Amazon cited a report from Qwilt, a company that tracks growth in online video usage

According to the Verge, Amazon said the Prime video streams have nearly tripled year over year.

It added that the Instant Video is now the third largest video site overall, behind Netflix and YouTube.

If correct, that would mean that Amazon has jumped ahead of Apple and Hulu to take the number three spot, the report added.

Also, with the launch of Fire TV last week, Amazon is hoping that figure will continue to rise as more people will have a simple way to browse, rent, and buy movies and TV shows on Amazon.
