Airbnb updates app's preference matching system

Airbnb has rolled out additional mobile features as part of their new "Live There" campaign, delivering personalised matches and travel tips from locals in the know.

The matching system works both ways, pairing hosts to travellers who share similar preferences. When booking, hosts can publish a list of house rules -- no smoking, no pets -- that guests must agree to before proceeding with the reservation. The app also asks guests for more information on their traveling style and preferences to deliver more personalized matches. For instance, guests can choose between property types -- apartment, castle, bungalow -- and neighborhood type -- scenic, hip, quiet.

The mobile app also includes new guidebooks compiled from the recommendations of local hosts, on everything from the best restaurants, bars, and attractions in the area.
