Saying that the case against chief of Jamaat-ud-Daawa Hafiz Saeed was "deliberately made weak", the head of a visiting Pakistani delegation said on Monday that even the people of his country were shocked when he was released from custody.

"Of course, we consider Saeed as an extremist and Pakistani's also criticised his release and there is an opinion that a deliberate weak case was made against Saeed, due to which he was acquitted", Rana Shafiq-Ur-Rehman, who heads an NGO 'Green circle organisation' told reporters here when asked about the reaction of Pakistani people over the release of Saeed, a key a accused in the 26/11 Mumbai attack case.

On the compromise with Taliban forces by the Pakistani Government especially in the Swat valley, where the imposition of "Shariah law" was allowed, Rana said "earlier it was conveyed that compromise with Taliban was a tactical move to restrict them, but later the formula proved a big failure."

"Perhaps, this is the first time that Pakistani Government is serious in its fight against terrorism", he remarked.
