Maharashtra Legislative Assembly was on Wednesday adjourned thrice with the Opposition Shiv Sena-BJP taking the government to task over the inordinate delay in issuing Government Resolution (GR) on OBC reservations in government jobs.

The issue was raised by Leader of Opposition Ramdas Kadam in the lower house. He said even though the law was enacted in 2004, it has not been issued till now.

Kadam demanded to know who were the people in the bureaucracy who stalled the process and demanded stern action against them.

BJP leader Eknath Khadse said the government had subjected 19 lakh government and semi-government employees to grave injustice. Noisy scenes were witnessed in the house as the Opposition was on its feet to criticise the Government.

The house had to be adjourned thrice as the Opposition stalled the proceedings to press for their demands.

Responding to the opposition demands, Chief Minister Ashok Chavan said he would inquire into the delay caused in the issuing of GR. He also promised action against erring bureaucrats.

"I will find out if there was any legal hassle in issuing the GR. Otherwise, the GR will be issued during the ongoing monsoon session itself," he said.
