Thieves attack 80-yr-old woman, rob house

A gang of three robbers attacked an 80-year-old woman and looted valuables worth Rs1.68 lakh from her house in the wee hours on Saturday. According to police, the incident when a gang of three thieves entered Dr. Amit Shah’s residence at Ellora park,  and attacked his octogenarian mother, Nirmalaben, when she tried resisting the intruders. The Gorwa police have started investigation in the case.

However, this incident has also exposed Vadodara city police’s tall claims of stringent security measures and patrolling during night for safety and security of residents.

According to complaint lodged by Gorwa police, Shah, 55, who is a medical practitioner runs a hospital in the same area. After coming back from the hospital, Shah parked the car in the residence compound and after dinner retired for the night along with his wife. His mother too went to her room, but was awakened by a noise of a lock being broken. She came out to investigate the noise and came face to face with the group of three people who had entered the house. They rushed towards her and caught her by the neck and threatened her to give them the valuables. They took away Rs13,000 in cash besides three mobile phones, silver coins and his car. While the robbers went about with their work, Shah and his wife did not even hear a sound.

After the robbers escaped in Shah’s car, Nirmalaben called for her son and narrated the entire incident. Shah then informed Gorwa police about the entire incident, who reached the spot and called the FSL, fingerprint experts and dog squad. According to the investigation officials, Nirmalaben in her statement said that all the three thieves, aged between 25 to 30 years, had masks on their face and were speaking in Gujarati.

The police have started investigation in this regard.
