Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Monday described as "unfounded and without any basis" his Delhi counterpart Shiela Dixit's claim that the JD(U) may align with the Congress after the elections.

"It (Sheila's claim) is unfounded and without any basis," Kumar told reporters at the airport before boarding a helicopter for electioneering.

Trashing Sheila's claim in an interview to CNN-IBN, the JD(U) national spokesman and Rajya Sabha member Shivanand Tiwari had said on Sunday evening that his party was a constituent of the NDA and will remain to be one.

"Some people are trying to spread misinformation and though we respect Sheila Ji, we don't expect her to engage in this kind of rubbish talk," Tiwari said.

Nitish was reacting to Dixit's claim that he had hinted at aligning with the Congress.

"Nitish Kumar has hinted at aligning with the Congress, but has not not confirmed as yet (about it). He is waiting for the election results to be out to decide which party to
support," the Delhi chief minister had told the TV channel.

"Talks must be on between Congress and Nitish Kumar at some level. Can't say whether Nitish will support Congress or not," she said in the interview.
