Kalyan RTO, wife killed in Pune road accident

Regional Transport Officer (RTO) of Kalyan, Ashok Kashinath Shinde, his wife Vijaya and their driver Wahid Babulal Sheikh were killed on Thursday night when the car they were travelling in collided with a truck at Borawke Vasti on Moregaon-Baramati road.

 Shinde, a resident of Indapur in Pune district, was heading to his native village from Pune when the accident took place. He had arrived in Pune from Kalyan on a holiday.

 Assistant police inspector VT Patil of Vadgaon Nimbalkar police station told DNA that the car was heading towards Indapur when it collided head-on with the truck which made a turn to cross the road. The driver of the truck fled from the spot.

While Sheikh died on the spot, the Shindes were rushed to a nearby hospital where they were pronounced dead.
