The view of the school authorities as well as  parents has changed, towards medical facilities of a school, after the tragic death of 18 year old, Aakriti Bhatia, due to an asthma attack, which raised a finger at the medical preparedness, of any school.

Rakesh Aggarwal, a parent whose child studies in the Rotary Public School, Gurgaon said, "Aakriti's case was unimaginable. My son is in the 12th standard, and I never expect something like this to happen to him. It's the doctors absence which has caused such an issue." Rajeev Mishra, whose son has not started school says, "My son is just 2 years old, but before admitting him in a school, I will look at the medical facilities. This is something I wouldn’t have inquired about earlier."

"The school should have a doctor at all times," says Usha Ram  Principal of Laxman Public School. She also adds, "A trained nurse is also available."

Many schools have tied up with nearby hospitals, to control situations that may arise.
According to directorate of education, the director shall be responsible for the supervision and inspection of all recognized schools, whether aided or not.

"Inspection is done at various levels. There are more than 900 schools, and more than one team is needed, "said Chandra Bhushan Kumar, Director of Education.

A Principal of a posh  school in West Delhi believes that what happened to Aakriti was unexpected and could happen to anybody. According to her, " What happened to Aakriti, was unavoidable. We are running a school, not a trauma centre."
