The Vadodara unit of the Congress is facing a problem in deciding who will canvass for its candidates during the last phase of campaigning. While senior party leaders from the city try to secure dates for celebrities, the main aim of Congress workers is to get none other than Rahul Gandhi for a roadshow in the city.

The BJP has reached out to voters in Vadodara through innovative means like Sanedo, screening Indian Premier League (IPL) matches on campaign vehicles and bringing in celebrities like Paresh Rawal and Manoj Joshi.

Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi addressed two public meetings in the Vadodara constituency. The Gaekwad family as well as BJP candidate Balkrishna Shukla have also launched strong campaigns for the party.

The Congress, on the other hand, is distributing IPL schedules along with pamphlets describing the development work undertaken by candidates. Congress leaders are now trying to draw in political bigwigs for campaigning in Vadodara. According to a source in the Congress, leaders of the Vadodara unit have forward a request to have Rahul Gandhi visit the city on April 28, the last day for campaigning.
