Even after apologising to Mayawati for his remarks, actor and SP leader Sanjay Dutt, who has been booked on obscenity charge, said on Thusrday that he was not cowed down by the FIRs against him and was still ready to give jadu ki jhappi (magical hug) and flowers to the UP chief minister.

"FIRs are distributed like sweets in Uttar Pradesh but I will not be cowed down."

"...I will give sister Mayawati jadu ki jhappi and flowers but not pappi (kiss) as it is reserved for the people of the state," Dutt, who has been booked in three cases for his remarks offing a 'jhappi' to the BSP supremo, said at an election rally in Akbarpur Lok Sabha constituency here.

During an April 16 rally in Pratapgarh, the 49-year-old actor said that he "will give jaadu ki jhappi and pappi (magical hug and kiss) to the people of Pratapgarh and given a chance I will do the same with the chief minister and BSP supremo Mayawati", sparking a furore.

A notice was served to Dutt by district administration after which he apologised, saying the chief minister was just like a sister to him. A peeved Mayawati had attacked the Samajwadi Party, calling it a gathering of people who are good at little else than singing, dancing and fake 'Gandhigiri'.

Dutt said on Thursday, "Behenji says Gandhigiri is fake. Does that mean Mahatma Gandhi too was a fake? We have forgiven her. The more she gets angry with me, the more jhappi (hugs) I will give her. I will give her flowers too.

"I have come here to work so that the voice of the people can reach our leaders. I will continue to do so with my 'Gandhigiri', despite the FIRs registered against me," Dutt, who was last month barred by the Supreme Court from contesting elections over his conviction in a Mumbai blasts case, told the rally.

Attacking the BSP government in Uttar Pradesh, Dutt claimed the people of the state were not even getting the basic amenities.

Dutt was campaigning for SP candidate from Akbarpur Kamlesh Pathak who is in jail in connection with the violence that followed the killing of a PWD engineer allegedly by BSP MLA Shekhar Tiwari and his aides in Auraiya district in December last year.
