Doors open for Left: Lalu

RJD president Lalu Prasad on Thursday said doors were open for a post-poll alliance with the Left in the event of the Congress-led UPA not being in a position to form a government.

"The doors for a post-poll alliance with the Left is still open. We had difference with the Left only over the civilian nuclear deal and nothing else. We have been friends with CPI(M) for a long time," Prasad told reporters when asked if he was prepared to join hands with the Left in the event of the UPA not being in a position to form its government.

The Railway minister, however, said he was confident that the UPA will be able to form its government. Prasad also rubbished media reports that his Muslim votebank had split with the Congress and JD(U) making a dent into it.

"There is no split in our Muslim support base. Do you think they will vote for an alliance which has projected LK Advani as its pime mnisterial candidate?" he asked.

"There is a slogan doing the rounds : Hindu, Muslim, Sikh - isi sabka dushman bhajapai (be it Hindu, Muslim, Sikh or Christian, BJP is everybody's enemy)," he said.

Prasad claimed that RJD-LJP alliance was all set to sweep all the 26 seats where polling was held in the first two phases of the four-phase election in the state.
