Following in Air India's footsteps, two Indian carriers and Singapore Airlines on Tuesday announced low fares and special schemes to attract the summer holiday traffic.

While low-fare airline SpiceJet announced a special scheme giving air-travellers a saving of up to Rs 500 per return-trip, its no-frills competitor JetLite also came out with low return-fares effective on Wednes, starting from as low as Rs 4,170, excluding passenger service fee and the development fees charged by certain major airports.

Air India had on Monday announced advance purchase excursion fares, available on 35 domestic sectors, of Rs 2,494 one way if booked 20 days in advance and Rs 2,694 if bought ten days before travel. These promotional fares were in addition to the Summer Special fares already introduced for purchase 30 days in advance.

Following suit, Singapore Airlines, together with the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and Singapore Changi Airport, is offering its customers the 'Fabulous Singapore Stopover' package for USD one only for the first night stay in Singapore.

The package covers exclusive deals on hotel accommodation, airport transfers and entry to some of Singapore’s leading tourist attractions.
