On Monday, chief minister Narendra Modi upped the rhetoric against Congress in general and was particularly harsh on prime minister Manmohan Singh.

Modi, who is BJP’s only star campaigner in state for the 15th Lok Sabha election, addressed three public gatherings in Junagadh, Rajula of Saurashtra, and the Union Territory of Diu.

In all three campaigns, he slammed Manmohan Singh for being a weak PM and called him “kamjor pradhan mantra (weak prime minister)” and calling his government a “majbur kendra sarkar (helpless central government)’’.

Modi also called UPA-led central government as Sonia Gandhi’s ‘sultanat’ which has failed to protect the interest of the nation. Modi said that whether it’s the matter of national security or unemployment, the Congress has failed to win trust of the people of India.

“Parivarwad (nepotism) is Congress’s weakest point. Congress is not interested in national interest. On the other hand, country’s interest is of highest importance to the BJP,” he said.

Speaking on the issues of minorities, rural areas and the downtrodden, Modi accused Congress of playing vote-bank politics. “The voters have already decided that they need a strong leader like Advaniji and the Congress will know this on May 16,” Modi emphasised.

In Rajula, Modi said that the central government has done injustice to the state in the allotment of gas to the Pipavav power station. In Diu, Modi said, “Diu and Daman are directly under the Centre’s control. But even after five years of its rule, the Congress has no sympathy for either the region or the fishermen living here.”

Modi also said that the Talibans are inching closer towards India but the Centre has done nothing to secure the western India’s sea coast.
