Rajasthan Royals may have impressed all by their superb victory last year in the first edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) but, this year, the bookies are not putting their money on Shane Warne’s boys. They are, in fact, rooting for Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings as the team most likely to emerge IPL champions this year, with an opening rate of Rs3.25.

A city-based bookie who did not wish to be identified told DNA that in the first edition of IPL, Rajasthan Royals’ victory against Dhoni’s team was not very convincing as Dhoni’s team lost on the last ball of the match.

“Dhoni’s skill as a captain will surely work in favour of Chennai Super Kings,” the bookie said, “and the team will be the new champion.”

The Delhi Daredevils (DD) are ranked second on the bookies’ list of potential winners. “Betting on Delhi Daredevil’s victory has opened with Rs3.75,” the bookie said. “This means bookies see it as having the second most likely to win the series.”

Explaining why the Delhi Daredevil’s are a strong contender for the championship, the bookie said that the team had Virendra Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir both of whom are in peak form and have the ability to turn the game around,” the bookie said.  Last year’s winner, the Rajasthan Royals, are a distant third in the bookies’ list of probable champions.
